What We Check Before Recommending Valley Repair
We check shingles, underlayment edges, valleys, flashing, pipe boots, skylights, chimney transitions, attic moisture, ceiling stains, and the places where water can travel before it appears indoors.
Valleys carry the highest volume of water on any roof pitch change. On Frederick homes with multiple dormers or additions, valleys are particularly vulnerable to debris accumulation. Closed-cut and woven valleys are more susceptible to wear where the overlapping shingles crease. Open metal valleys are more forgiving but fail at the edges where the flashing meets the shingles. We look at the valley type, the condition of the metal or underlayment, and the decking underneath before making a recommendation.
